Working together with Loop+, we built a pressure sensor acquisition system for wheelchair users, to prevent pressure injuries.
We have always cared about projects that give back to the community and improve people's quality of life, like Loop+ does. Wheelchair users spend extended periods of time in a fixed position and this puts them at risk of suffering pressure injuries. Working together with Loop+, we built a portable pressure sensor acquisition system to address this problem.
The solution acquires pressure data which is then relayed to the user’s mobile application via Bluetooth systems based upon a microcontroller running a real-time operating system (RTOS) optimised for low-power embedded devices. Great care has been taken to ensure that this device is safe for medical use. We've carefully tested characteristics such as thermal behaviour and optimised battery sub-systems without compromising the battery life or performance of this life-changing technology.
